The University of California at Los Angeles – UCLA – Photo Tour

My daughter and I just finished touring three colleges in the Los Angeles area. I thought I’d do a photo-blog for each one. I did not take note of which building was what, so there are no captions on my photos – sorry!

A UCLA brochure says, “UCLA receives the most admission applications of any university in the United States, and our admissions requirements are among the most selective in the nation.”

Their Fall 2018 stats showed 113,000 applications, a 14% acceptance rate, an average G.P.A. of 3.92,  a median 50% composite SAT score between 1370 – 1530, and an ACT mid-50% composite score of 31 – 35.

As of 2019, freshman applicants need to take the ACT Assessment plus Writing OR the SAT with Essay. This is not the final word on this subject, please do your own research. You might want to start with this page on the UCLA website.

UCLA includes the College of Letters and Science plus five professional schools: Arts and Architectures; Engineering and Applied Sciences; Music; Nursing; and Theater, Film and Television. UCLA offers over 125 different majors.

According to the brochure, “Forbes Magazine lists UCLA as one of the top 10 most entrepreneurial universities because so many of our alumni go on to establish companies.”

The feeling my daughter got from her brief impression of the school was that people were very friendly but the school is highly competitive and sometimes stressful.

UCLA is located in the residential neighborhood of Westwood in Los Angeles, adjacent to the neighborhoods of Bel Air and Beverly Hills. It is considered a safe area of Los Angeles. Check out this link for directions.
